What Other companies use...

The Terminal posts we use are a 2 3/8" galvanized posts with a wall thickness of .065 or 16 gauge. there are a lot of other sizes and wall thicknesses to choose from, but this has worked the best, with no call backs. The line posts that we use are 1 5/8" galvanized for the 42" high to the 5' high , and 1 7'8" galvanized for the 6' high with a wall thickness of .065 or 16 gauge. Our top rail is 1 3/8" with a wall thickness of .065 or 16 gauge for up to 5' high fence. 6' high and over use 1 5/8" with a wall thickness of .065 or 16 gauge.

A-1 Fence Gates
Our gates are custom built with welded corners. The most common problem with a fence is the gate. We have eliminated this by welding our gates. Our competitors still use flimsy aluminum corners and self tapping screws to hold their gates together. They don't hang straight from day 1 and the call backs on these gates are 3 out of 5 jobs. Any contractor in the fence business can get the welded gates, but they would rather go back to your house once a year and get your money. "They call it job security "

A little about the fence business
The best advise I can give is to compare estimates closely. A lower price means your going to be cutting corners somewhere, whether on materials or a poor installation. Your fence may look good for a year or two, but after that things seem to look out of adjustment, or the top rail is bending between posts, and the gates have fallen apart because the screws rusted.

Things you should ask your fence company
  • Do they have Liability insurance...$1,000,000.00 coverage is the normal for a fence contractor.
  • Have they ever been to court on a installed fence issue?
  • Do they sub-contract the work out, and how long have they been installing fence.
  • Ask about other work performed and addresses,  so you can see for yourself how their finished jobs looks.
  • How long do they guarantee there work?
Our Guarantees
A-1 Fence guarantees all of our galvanized chain link fence comes with a 5 year guarantee on labor and 10 years on material, and it is written on the contract.
A-1 wood fences have a 2 year guarantee on labor only, the wood we use is rough cut cedar and is not treated, stained or painted. We do not have control over the wood itself , we leave additional boards on site in the case a board should split or warp.
All of our vinyl and aluminum decorative fences come with the manufactures warranty of 5 years on materials, and our A-1 Fence guarantee of 2 years on labor.
Don't judge a contractor by his or her appearance... They may drive a $60,000  truck and have a nice suit, but the thing you really need to look at is there reputation, and how well they take care of there customers. A lot of fence contractors tell their customers that they are getting the best product money can buy. "The best the market has to offer" then they order in all cheap low grade material. After being installed the fence looks the same as the upper quality material,  but the wall thickness on the posts and rail are almost as thin as a pop can, and the fence won't last. Ask to view the material before set-up and be careful in your selection.
